Welcome to my kitchen table, the cozy corner of Baked with Love where I share the stories, prayers, and sweet moments behind each month’s menu. This blog is a place where faith meets flour, where God’s goodness shows up in the everyday, and where I get to invite you into the heart behind the bakes. Baking is more than just mixing ingredients; it is a way to nurture both body and spirit, a practice that connects us to something greater than ourselves.

I’m Katrina — a veteran, single mom, and home baker who finds peace, purpose, and joy in the simple act of creating something sweet. Much of this journey has unfolded at my own kitchen table, raising my son and building something meaningful for our future, one batch at a time.

Baking has always been a place where I felt God’s presence most clearly and honestly — where I believe my purpose is. It’s where He slows me down, fills me with gratitude, and reminds me that even small things — like a warm cookie — can be used to bless others. What began as a hobby has grown into something more, as God continued opening doors, gently nudging my heart, and showing me that He can use the work of our hands in ways we never expect. Deuteronomy 28:12 has become a promise I hold close: that He will bless the work I do when I offer it back to Him.

Every recipe I test, every batch I bake, every order delivered is prayed over and made with intention. My hope is that each treat brings comfort, joy, and a reminder of God’s goodness to whoever receives it.

I’m so glad you’re here. Follow along, settle in, and if something sweet speaks to you, I’d be honored to bake it for you. This business is built on faith, family, and the belief that even the smallest things can carry great love.

The Heart Behind Each Bake

Every recipe I share carries a story, a prayer, or a moment of reflection. Baking becomes a spiritual practice when it is done with intention and gratitude. For example, when I prepare a batch of cinnamon rolls, I think about the warmth and comfort they bring, much like the comfort found in faith. The act of kneading dough reminds me to be patient and gentle with myself and others, a daily reminder I know I need!

This connection between faith and baking helps me slow down and appreciate the present moment. It turns a simple kitchen task into a sacred ritual. When you bake with love and purpose, the food nourishes not only the body but also the soul.

How Faith Inspires the Menu

Each month’s menu is inspired by themes from scripture, prayers, or life experiences. For instance, a menu centered around renewal might include fresh spring herbs and light, airy cakes that symbolize new beginnings. A menu inspired by gratitude could feature harvest fruits and hearty breads, celebrating the abundance in life.

This approach invites you to reflect on your own spiritual journey while enjoying delicious food. It encourages mindfulness and a deeper appreciation for the gifts we often take for granted. Baking becomes a way to express faith tangibly and share it with others.

Practical Ways to Bring Faith into Your Baking

You don’t need to be a professional baker or deeply religious to experience the joy of combining faith and baking. Here are some simple ways to bring this practice into your own kitchen:

  • Start with a prayer or moment of silence before you begin. This sets a peaceful tone and invites gratitude.

  • Choose recipes that have personal or spiritual significance. Maybe a family recipe passed down through generations or one inspired by a meaningful scripture.

  • Use baking as a time to meditate on a verse or positive affirmation.

  • Share your baked goods with others as an act of kindness and community.

  • Reflect on the process and the transformation of simple ingredients into something nourishing and beautiful.

These small steps can transform baking from a routine chore into a meaningful experience.

Stories of Faith and Flour

One of my sweetest childhood memories is baking cookies with my sister. We’d crowd around the mixing bowl, sneaking chocolate chips and laughing at our messy creations. I didn’t realize it then, but those simple moments were planting the seeds of what baking would one day mean to me — a place where joy, creativity, and God’s quiet presence meet. Those cookies were more than treats; they were little reminders of love, togetherness, and the goodness woven into everyday life.

Another example is on Sundays, my small group gathers for Bible study, and I’ve somehow become the designated dessert‑maker — a role I truly cherish. There’s something so sweet about bringing something homemade to the table as we talk about faith, life, and the ways God is moving in our stories. Sharing dessert in that space feels like the most natural way to love the people God has placed around me. Those evenings have become such a blessing, reminding me that God can use even simple things — like a plate of cookies — to build fellowship, joy, and community.

Baking as a Form of Worship and Gratitude

Baking can be a form of worship, a way to honor God’s gifts and express thankfulness. When you bake with intention, you acknowledge the abundance of ingredients, the ability to create, and the joy of sharing. This mindset shifts baking from a task to a spiritual offering.

For example, during the holiday season, baking traditional treats can become a way to celebrate faith and family heritage. Lighting a candle, saying a prayer, or playing worship music can enhance the experience and deepen the connection.

Creating a Faith-Filled Baking Space

Your kitchen can become a sanctuary where faith and baking come together. Here are some ideas to create a space that inspires both:

  • Display meaningful items like a favorite Bible verse, a cross, or a prayer card.

  • Keep a journal nearby to jot down reflections, prayers, or recipe notes.

  • Play soft, uplifting music that encourages calm and focus.

  • Use natural light and fresh flowers to bring warmth and life to the space.

  • Invite family or friends to join you, turning baking into a shared spiritual practice.

A thoughtfully arranged kitchen can support your intention to nourish both body and soul.

Bringing the Community Together Through Baking

Sharing baked goods is a simple yet powerful way to build community and spread kindness. Whether it’s a loaf of bread for a neighbor, cookies for a local shelter, or treats for a church gathering, baking becomes a language of love.

Organizing baking events or prayer groups around the kitchen table can deepen relationships and create a sense of belonging. These moments remind us that faith is not just personal but also communal.

The Joy of Simple Moments

Faith and baking both teach us to find joy in simple moments. The smell of fresh bread, the sound of a mixer, the sight of golden crusts—all these small (amazing) experiences can bring peace and happiness.

By inviting faith into your baking, you learn to appreciate these moments more fully. You recognize that nourishment goes beyond calories; it feeds the heart and spirit.

Encouragement to Start Your Own Faith and Baking Journey

If you’ve never thought about combining faith and baking, I encourage you to try it. Start small with a favorite recipe and a quiet moment of reflection. Notice how it changes your experience in the kitchen and your connection to the food you create.

Remember, this practice is personal and flexible. It can be as simple or as elaborate as you want. The key is to bake with intention, gratitude, and love.
